So, you start looking for tips on the internet or asking for advice from your friends and then you don’t really know what to trust or not ... Be careful, do not believe everything you see or tell you because there are many theories about acne and they are not all true. Do you want to know what is true and what is just simply a myth?

Here we tell you about 7 acne myths so you can clarify and leave doubts:

1. The best way to remove pimples is to break them. False.

The worst thing you can do is blowing up your pimple! If you do it, the only thing you will achieve is to infect it by the presence of germs, irritated it, and increase the inflammation, generating a scar or mark that, unlike the pimples, will remain permanently on your face.

2. Makeup increases the appearance of acne. False.

Make-up does not cause acne, no matter how bad quality the makeup is. However, what can really cause pimples is to not take off well makeup of your face before going to sleep. If you go to bed with traces of makeup, this will accumulate it in the pores, causing an obstruction and therefore, the appearance of pimples. So, no matter how tired you are, always clean very well your face before going to sleep.

3. Fried foods and chocolate increase the chance of having acne. False.

The cause of acne is not related to the consumption of food. Pizzas, burgers, fried foods, any fatty food or chocolate are not directly responsible for the appearance of acne on the face or any other part of the body. However, this does not mean that you can eat all the junk food you want because if you do, your skin will be much more exposed to impurities, than if you eat fruits, vegetables, cereals, and low-fat dairy products.

4. Stress causes acne. False.

The normal stress of every day does not cause the appearance of pimples. If you live a special period of stress in your life for some specific circumstance, it is possible that the skin produces more fat, or sebum, but that does not mean that more pimples will appear.

5. Sunbathing disappears acne. False.

Tons of people have experienced a noticeable improvement regarding acne in summer since the sun decomposes and evaporates fat, increases local desquamation and has an antibacterial effect. In addition, when the skin is tanned it often happens that the acne diminishes due to an anti-inflammatory effect of the sun.

Unfortunately, this apparent improvement is temporary, because when the skin burns, the skin cells are replaced by those that clog the pores. This finally makes the situation worse because a "post-sun acne" occurs, which is the presence of many black spots on the skin.

We should always keep in mind that exposing ourselves to the sun without adequate protection can dry out, irritate or burn our skin, in addition, it increases the appearance of wrinkles and the risk of suffering skin cancer in the future.

6. The more I wash my face, the less chance of suffering from acne. False.

It is not necessary to clarify that facial cleansing is extremely important to keep the face hydrated and eliminate the remains of dirt that may end up affecting our skin. But it should only be done twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. If you exceed this amount, you will only get your skin irritated and filled with impurities such as pimples, redness, blackheads or pimples.

On the other hand, it is not advisable to clean with strength your skin because it can be counterproductive and further irritate a sensitive area. You have to remove excess sebum gently it can be with specific acne cleansers.

7. Taking vitamins causes acne. False.

No vitamin has components that can generate acne; on the contrary, vitamin A (retinoic acid) is well known for neutralizing pimples when applied topically. However, the consequences of the topical use of retinoic acid are that it generates contact irritation and other side effects.
